Beautician and the Beast

Would you all believe I have never watched that movie??? Well tonight I watched it for the very first time, and found it rather entertaining... for more reasons than just pure entertainment.

The movie is full of humour, and I found myself laughing more than once. But my favorite part is when she wakes up with a chicken in her bed. And the whole scene just before the bed/chicken scene where she yells at the chicken and says obviously you are not willing to die for your country... and then... the chicken ironically... climbs into a pot of water... I mean... it's priceless... it's stupid humour that most people would find dry and corny... but that I find utterly hilarious!

And then there is the serious side to the film... they side that teaches that "you catch more flys with honey than vinegar." I mean.. the movie itself is brilliant... They use a good looking annoying voiced girl from brooklyn to teach a president how to be a true leader. A true leader in a true democracy. He gives the people a chance... and not only that... he no longer instills fear into people, but instead he charms them into liking him, and talks to them as if they are no lower than him, he gives them fair wages, and they increase their work ability... It is almost Utopian.

The movie itself made me think... What if life were actually like this??? What if there were no people like leonid in the world. What if all those people were sentenced for treason??? Isn't this a bit like the world?, from God's eyes? I mean think of it this way.... God creates the world... people go on living... there are those who secretly speak out against him, and those who think he is just a mean man in the sky that treats us all like puppets and knows that each and every one of us is going to fail... some will die in car accidents...some will be raped ... some will work for next to nothing and not get any reward from all the work they do. GOd knows it all... and he still let's it happen... isn't this what so many people think of God!... but then there is this other side, which is more the true side. The side that sent his son to die... in order for all people to be saved. A God who loves each person more than anyone and wants them to talk to him, and wants them to hear his voice. I'm taken back to a scene in the film where the President decides that he is going to start talking to the common folk, and the first woman he talks to... simply will not respond back... she is baffled... she is afraid... she feels inadequate next to the president. Isn't this so many people with God... they are so scared that they will be struck down by lightning that they will not even step foot in a church, they are afraid of what people might think of them if they thought themselves deserving enough to talk to the almighty! To enter his Kingdom... but isn't this exactly what God wants? He wants us to enter his Kingdom, he wants to dance with us, laugh with us, sing with us. He wants to see us smile. He wants us to work harder in his kingdom, not because he wants the benefits but he wants us to enjoy the benefits. He wants us to be happy.

Cheers,

Alicia
