We think that we need to know exactly how to handle every situation that comes our way, but the fact is, none of us can handle anything on our own, there will always be someone hurt, someone happy, and whatever you do, nothing is going to turn out perfect. That is, unless it is God's plan, and he is involved throughout the whole thing, only then can we see the beauty, the perfection in even the worst of situations. God has a plan for all of us, and most often we think that if something makes us angry or brings tears to our eyes that it is automatically a bad thing and automatically from the devil. We say things like, he's tempting us, he's attacking us, etc... but the truth is, the devil can't do anything without God allowing it. So everything in our life, the worst of situations to the best, are all from God. He has something in each situation that we must learn from it and take into the world to do his will. To fulfill our purpose of worshipping him and doing everything in the name of him. But we cannot do this unless we are in him, unless we are in his word, in communication with him daily, and constantly asking him for direction. We must not do anything with our own motives in mind, but give our concerns to the Lord and he will set our feet in the direction he wants them to go.
So, when we think that God isn't answering our prayers, maybe just maybe, this is when we should be sending more prayers up, this is when we should be stopping what we're doing and refocussing, cause chances are, it's not that he's not answering, but that we aren't listening. We've probably sent some quick little prayer up to him and then went about our busy lives, expecting God to strike us with lightning or something. It doesn't work that way, in order to hear his voice, we have to be in his word, with his people, and talking with him incessantly. And this, for the average North American citizen, is impossible!! It's not that we are incapable of doing so, but that we are so preoccupied with competing with the Jones' that we forget that we have a creator who will give us so much, if only we give him our all! So next time you think God is being unfair, next time you think that he's not answering your prayers, think again about how much you've given to God lately, think about how much time you've spent with him. It takes two to tango! And thank God, we have a great dance partner!
